Islamabad [Pakistan]Jan 22 (ANI): Two policemen were killed and another was injured after terrorists attacked a checkpoint in Dheri Zardad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Saturday, international news reported.

Three police officers were injured after terrorists opened fire on the checkpoint. The injured policeman was taken to the district headquarters hospital in Charsada. However, two of them succumbed to their injuries.

The slain police officers were identified as officers Imran and Munir. The third injured policeman was taken to a hospital in Peshawar in an unstable condition, according to news reports. Regional police officer Sohail Khaled said the terrorists fled the scene after police officers retaliated.

A terrorist was also wounded in the retaliatory fire, Khaled said. He said that a large number of police arrived at the scene and launched a search operation to find the terrorists and their accomplices.

Meanwhile, according to international news reports, the residence of an employee of the counter-terrorism unit in the Pakistani village of Kajawala was hit with a grenade, but no one was injured. A building and a motor rickshaw were damaged in the attack.
