UAE: Sustainability is an investment today for future generations, says top official – News

Integrated development of children will enable them to grow, thrive and lead the future, says Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority chief

Sustainability has been a proven approach throughout the UAE’s history. Sana Mohamed Suhail, director general of the Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority, said it was the backbone of building the present and planning for the future.

Her comments came after UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan declared 2023 the “Year of Sustainable Development”.

Friday’s announcement comes as the country prepares for this year’s global climate summit, COP28, to be held in Dubai Expo City from Nov. 30 to Dec. 12.

“Ensuring the continuation of the comprehensive civilizational and developmental renaissance that the UAE has experienced since the founding of the Union, and maintaining its momentum to remain at the forefront of developed countries and become a leading example of progress, development and investment in building and enhancing human capital, investing today’s resources and ability to create the best opportunities for future generations to enjoy a bright future, realize their aspirations and inspire them to be active and influential in society and be able to contribute effectively to achieve leadership in various fields,” Suhail said.

“Sheikh Mohammad’s announcement is an affirmation of the importance of planning for the future, and starting today, from an early age, to be proactive in preparing for it. It is a translation of the slogan ‘Today for Tomorrow’ and a manifestation of His Highness the Wise for the Future 50-year readiness, which represents investing in building and advancing people to serve the country and community at the heart of its very nature.”

She affirmed that the Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority believes in the importance of sustainable development as an integral part of its culture and work philosophy. “The Authority continually seeks to have broad and sustainable impact across all its projects and programmes, not least because it plays an important and vital developmental role, the results of which are reflected in the present and future through its oversight of the early childhood development sector, and Committed to ensuring the health and well-rounded development of all children from conception to age 8, and working with partners to provide them with a variety of care modalities so they can grow and thrive and lead the future,” said Suhail. .
