Natasha Lyonne to star in peacock-like farce ‘Poker Face’

[ad_1]

Angel – Natasha Lyonne’s latest role in the Peacock series is known for her witty, quick delivery” poker face “Gives her the opportunity to play a character with character traits she’s never played before. Lyonne’s Charlie likes people.

Charlie is still pissed off, but Leon says the character was partly inspired by Jeff Bridges famous role as “The Playboy” on “The Big Lebowski.”

She’s “a bit of a withdrawn person with a little sun on my face,” says Lyonne, “and I’m usually more of an urban dodger, someone who avoids getting hit by a taxi and runs down the subway.”

Creator Rian Johnson added, “Charlie is very open. She’s very sunny. It took Natasha by surprise. She said, ‘Oh, this is new to me. I like people.’ The natural part of Natasha’s personality Sour and sharp, with a really sunny character…I think it’s well worth watching.”

“Poker Face” is a suspenseful drama, so it fits well in Johnson’s wheelhouse as writer and director of “Into the Wild” and “The Glass Onion.”

Charlie has a keen ability to automatically know when someone is lying. After the events of the first episode have her running away from a mafia boss and his enforcers (played by Benjamin Bratt), she drives… out of trouble. In each episode, Charlie meets new people, a murder and, of course, lies that make her want to figure out what the hell is going on.

Johnson describes it as a howdunit and undisputedly a program.

“We follow the same format every episode. We show the murder, and then we flash back and see where Charlie was during the murder. We catch up to the murder, and then she solves it. Keeping the procedural consistency to me It’s a big deal because when I’m on TV, part of what I love is hanging out with the same friends over and over again. Getting a new thrill from something I know what’s going to happen every week is a thrill The mode of gratification. It was a great joy…I totally embraced it.”

As Charlie encounters a new mystery each week, there will be revolving doors throughout the 10-episode first season, featuring Lil Ray Henry, Tim Meadows, Luis Guzman, Cole Lo Sevigny, and even Nick Nolte — who directed the episode of Leon, which she described as a “sensational” experience.

“Highly recommended for everyone. Of course, this can get confusing as Nick likes a very no-nonsense guy, but yes, I’d say I recommend it to all enthusiasts.”

Lyonne described the acting alongside so many guest stars as mostly great, and seemed amused by the ones that could be more challenging.

“Sometimes someone comes in and it’s really fun. It’s like making music with a really cool musician that you didn’t know you were going to play so well with. Other times it’s like, ‘Oh wow, So this guy just doesn’t remember their lines. Okay, it’s going to be a long day. Sometimes it’s a mixed bag. I’d say the talent of the people we were able to bring together was definitely, maybe 99% true It was very, very good. There were some people who said, “This is the tricky thing. “You’ll never know. You’ll never know.”

Another reason Charlie was able to accept what seemed wrong was because she paid attention to those around her and liked the underdogs, those who were overlooked or neglected by others.

“Charlie would always sympathize with this little guy who resembled Colombo in a way,” Johnson said.

It’s a trait that Lyonne is drawn to both personally and professionally. She has a production company, “Animal Pictures,” with Maya Rudolph, which co-produced “Poker Face” with Rudolph’s Apple TV+ comedy “Loot.” It’s also behind Lyon’s hit Netflix series “Russian Doll.” Lyonne says she enjoys creative people, including friends Jenji Kohan (Orange Is the New Black), Amy Poehler, Clea DuVall, and Janicza Bravo, and enjoys creating content for “misfits and outsiders.”

“We’re sort of going on a trip together. You’re talking to weird kids in the back of the room because, you know, they watch stuff, too.”
