PHILIPPSBURG, NJ – Golfers looking to look their best year-round can swing at a new facility in Warren County.
Burley’s Golf Center, an indoor venue with a golf simulator, driving range, putting green and chipping area, opened at 224 Stockton Street in Philipsburg in early January.
The space was previously home to another indoor golf center, Infinity Golf, which closed about two years ago.
Husband and wife owners Jonathan and Kaitlyn Burley, who operate adjacent Burley’s Gym, were looking to complement the business’ health and wellness offerings.
“The space had been vacant for a while, and I thought, ‘Let’s try this,'” Jonathan said. “I’m a golfer myself and a strength coach. So, I think it’s a great addition to our gym and performance center.”
A 2013 graduate of Easton Area High School, Jonathan is a lifelong fitness enthusiast who grew up playing football, hockey, and other sports.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from East Stroudsburg University and joined forces with his wife in 2017 to start a small personal training business out of their garage.
In 2018, the couple moved their operations to a larger existing space, where they expanded their product range to include over 100 pieces of cardio and weight training equipment, an indoor basketball court, therapeutic massage, cupping and boot camps, Boxing and weight loss programs.
With the addition of the Golf Center, Burley’s now totals approximately 25,000 square feet.
“We’ve always had a passion for health and fitness and wanted to share our passion with others,” the couple wrote on the company’s website. “Our goal is to help people change their lives and become the best version of themselves.”
Burleys completely revamped the golf center space with new wall paint, updated simulators and refurbished greens and targets.
In the Simulator Zone, golfers can play more than 40 courses, including top courses from around the world, as well as various virtual reality games such as football.
Guests can further hone their golf skills with six lanes and approximately 4,000 square feet of chipping and putting greens, complete with large bunkers and golf carts.
The Philipsburg couple also knocked down walls to create an open-plan entertainment area with foosball, ping pong and pool tables, as well as other games like darts, basketball and jumbo Connect 4. Private party rooms and lounge areas with TVs and luxury amenities are also available.
“We even have a bounce house that can be inflated for kids’ parties,” says Jonathan. “People can bring their own food and drinks, and if they want to order from there, there’s a new pizzeria down the hall.”
As they did with their gym, Burleys designed their new golf center to be a rewarding community resource where people can improve themselves while also socializing and having fun.
The facility can be reserved for high school and college golf team practice as well as other events such as bachelor parties and private golf leagues.
Most recently, Burleys also introduced a six-week birdie league ($30), in which men, women and children play a different nine-hole course each week, with prizes for the top three finishers in each division.
In addition, the facility hosts football and other sporting events, and for a $10 admission fee, individuals can watch sports, play golf and other games (including virtual reality), enjoy pizza and drinks, and listen to music.
“We’re trying to be a one-stop shop for all the ways people can have fun,” Jonathan said. “We have a lot of other programs going on, including some family putts and after-school programs for teens.”
Simulator pricing is $40 per hour, Monday through Thursday; $50 per hour, Friday through Sunday. Pricing for the driving range and chipping area is $7 for 50 balls; $10 for 80 balls.
There are also pass options: $20 daily pass (includes keg ball and access to Burley’s gym), $400 seasonal pass (January-April) and annual pass ($50 per month; includes daily unlimited range of balls , Burley’s gym membership, access to the driving range, chipping green, putting green and rec room, and 10% off simulator time).
