LONDON, Jan. 25 (AP) — Two British volunteers who were reported missing in eastern Ukraine have died, according to a family statement released Tuesday.
Andrew Bagshaw, 48, and Christopher Parry, 28, went missing earlier this month while traveling to the town of Soledar in the eastern region of Donetsk where heavy fighting took place .

Parry’s family confirmed in a statement released through the British Foreign Office that both men had died.
“It is with great sadness that we announce that our beloved Krissi and his colleague Andrew Bagshaw were killed while attempting a humanitarian evacuation from Soledar in eastern Ukraine,” it said.
The statement added that Parry “found himself drawn to Ukraine during the darkest hours of March when the Russian invasion began, and helped those most in need, saving more than 400 lives and many abandoned animals.”
Ukrainian police said on Jan. 9 that they lost contact with Bagshaw and Perry after traveling to Soledad.
According to New Zealand media reports, Bagshaw, a New Zealand resident, was helping deliver humanitarian aid in Ukraine. (Associated Press)
