[ad_1]

Fawad Chaudhry, leader of the Pakistan Justice Movement (PTI), was reportedly arrested by police in Lahore in the early hours of Wednesday. Party leader Farrukh Habib told Dawn that Choudhury was detained at his residence.

The arrest came shortly after Choudhry publicly criticized the Pakistani government for plotting to arrest the country’s former prime minister and head of PTI Imran Khan.

Dawn added that Chaudhry was charged under Sections 153-A (Incitement to Enmity Between Groups), 506 (Criminal Intimidation), 505 (Remarks Causing Public Mischief) and 124-A (Sedition) of the Islamabad Pakistan Penal Code. FIR registration is carried out. Kosal Police Department.

Choudhury and hundreds of PTI workers had earlier gathered outside Khan’s Zaman Park residence in Lahore, claiming to thwart what the government said was a plan to arrest the party chief.

PTI Twitter processed the posted video showing a convoy of police vehicles that the party claimed were carrying after Chaudhry’s arrest.

Several other PTI leaders also condemned Chaudhry’s arrest. Ali Haider Zaidi, chairman of PTI Sindh, condemned the arrests, saying “Pakistan has become a lawless state”.

“Strongly condemn the #ImportedGovernmentNaManzoor arrest of @fawadchaudhry Pakistan has become a lawless state in the hands of these illegal lawmakers and corrupt law enforcement officers! All are driving this country into anarchy!” he said.

A large number of PTI leaders and staff gathered outside Imran Khan’s residence in Zaman Park, Lahore, as rumors of the imminent arrest of the former Pakistani prime minister circulated in the early hours of Wednesday.

PTI leader Asad Umar took to Twitter to urge all party members to go to Zaman Park. “There are reports that the puppet government will try to arrest Chairman Imran Khan tonight and Justice League workers are heading to Zaman Park to protect their leader,” PTI wrote in a tweet.

PTI supporters held up slogans in support of Imran Khan and vowed unwavering loyalty to their leader, even if it meant risking their lives, Geo News reported.

Earlier on Tuesday night, Choudhry condemned the government’s actions in an interview with reporters.
