Jennifer Coolidge rekindled her career after winning an Emmy for her portrayal of Tanya McQuoid-Hunt on the acclaimed HBO series “White Lotus,” She was named the 2023 Woman of the Year by Harvard University’s Hasty Pudding Theatricals on Tuesday.
The Pudding Theater is the oldest theater organization in the United States and one of the oldest theater organizations in the world. It has honored the award every year since 1951 to a woman “who has made a lasting and impressive contribution to the world of entertainment.”
Coolidge, who grew up in the Boston area, also played Stifler’s sexy mom in American Pie and virtuous manicurist Paulette in the Legally Blonde films.
“We are so excited to welcome Jennifer Coolidge back to her hometown and to Harvard, the iconic Legally Blonde scene,” Maya Durbin, coordinator of the year’s men and women, said in a release. “Her sparkling personality and comedic presence are such a pudding.”
Coolidge will hold a parade in Harvard Square on February 4, followed by a roast at which she will receive a pudding pan.
Her other film credits include roles in “Best In Show”, “A Mighty Wind” and “Shotgun Wedding”, while she has also appeared in several TV shows including “Seinfeld”, “2 Broke Girls” and “Nip/Tuck”.
Previous Women of the Year winners include Meryl Streep, Viola Davis and Debbie Reynolds.
Last week, Bob Odenkirk was named 2023 Instant Pudding Man of the Year. He will be honored on February 2.
