Four more indicted over 2021 assassination of Haitian President Jouvernell Moise

The Justice Department announced the additional charges in a statement Press release Tuesday.

Moise is was killed At his home on July 7, 2021. Four suspects were killed in a shootout with law enforcement following the assassination, while two others were detained.

Solages, Vincent and Rivera are charged with conspiracy to murder or kidnap, providing material support or resources to cause death, and providing those resources with the knowledge that they would be used to kill or kidnap.

Sanon is charged with conspiracy to smuggle materials into the United States and providing information on illegal exports, among other counts.

The Justice Department believes Solages and Sanon met with other co-conspirators in South Florida in April 2021 to discuss Sanon’s political ambitions in Haiti’s regime change.

During the meeting, the co-conspirators discussed purchasing weapons and ammunition for Sanon’s “private army” in Haiti, which included about 20 combat-trained Colombian citizens. Investigators say Sanon worked to obtain weapons and bulletproof vests for the coup.

In June 2021, Solages obtained a document purportedly signed by a Haitian judge requesting military assistance and granting immunity to those involved in the assassination, court documents show.

Prosecutors said Solages, Vincent and Rivera and others then met near the president’s home on July 6, stormed his home and killed him the next day.

Solages, Vincent and Rivera face life in prison. Sanon faces 20 years in prison.

Up to 20 Colombian nationals and several dual US-Haitian citizens are believed to be involved in the plot to kill Moise.Three suspects were previously chargedincluding former Haitian Senator Joseph Joel John.
