World News | MQM Supremo Altaf Hussain questions Pakistan govt over Peshawar bombing

[ad_1]

London [UK]Feb 1 (ANI): Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) supreme leader Altaf Hussain has slammed the Pakistani government for Monday’s suicide attack on a mosque in Peshawar that killed 100 people.

The top MQM leader has lashed out at the PML-N-led government and armed forces, which they believe neighboring Afghanistan bears sole responsibility for the Peshawar suicide bombing. He expressed his solidarity with the families of the victims.

A suicide bomber blew himself up in the central hall of the mosque around 1pm on Monday.

Hussain also slammed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s caretaker minister for his government’s “stupid” statement that no terrorist group would be allowed to operate in Pakistan. He questioned whether the suicide bombing in Peshawar was the result of his permission.

He said the government of Pakistani Prime Minister Sheikh Baz Sharif had left the port city of Karachi at the mercy of terrorists and criminal gangs.

The MQM supreme leader criticized Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammed Asif’s statement, saying it was a hopeful sign that people were holding protest rallies to condemn the terrorist group.

Hussain said Khawaja Muhammed Asif did not hold the armed forces accountable for failing to contain the terrorist threat.

He criticized the current government led by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) for the genocide of the Muhajar people in Karachi and other Muhajar-populated cities. He called PML-N an enemy because all military repression against Mohajar was carried out under the leadership of PML-N government.

Hussain said it was MQM that introduced the concept of local guards, where people perform vigilance services themselves without any financial burden on any government.

After the Peshawar mosque bombing, a faction of the TTP claimed responsibility for the attack, but hours later a TTP spokesman distanced himself from the claim on Twitter and said their policy does not include attacks on mosques, according to Dawn reports. Peshawar Divisional Commissioner Riaz Mehsud said rescue and search operations at the blast site have been completed. (Arnie)
