UAE Padel Association launches 2023 Mashreq Padel Tour

The size of the inaugural tour and its massive prize pool underscores UAEEPA’s ambitious blueprint to grow the sport nationally by increasing the adoption of the world’s fastest-growing sport across all nationalities, age groups, genders and abilities .

Sheikh Saeed bin said: “The popularity of padel in the UAE has exceeded all expectations at the entertainment level and we are embracing this unparalleled growth by introducing national events to further enhance the padel community, tournament standards and players’ competitive experience. “The 2023 Mashreq Padel Tour represents a new era for padel in the UAE and underscores our commitment to growing the sport across the country. The inaugural tour will serve as a fulfillment of the Association’s goal of raising standards for players, organizers and clubs strategic enablers of the 2020 and 2020 national vision to help a more active population pursue healthy physical activity on a regular basis,” added Sheikh Saeed.

The Mashreq Padel Tour will travel through the four emirates in its first season, and registered players in the men’s, women’s or open categories will receive ranking points related to their final positions in the three competitions: UAEPA10, UAE100 and UAEEPAE&E, which must be awarded by The two-man team consisted of an Emiratis and an expatriate. Depending on the tournament, the fourth U-16 competition, open to boys or girls, will not be ranked.

Six padel clubs in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ajman will host the eight-week tournament, starting with the opener of the Mashreq Padel Tour 2023 at the World Padel Academy in Dubai from 17-19 February. The opening ceremony will be divided into three competition categories: UAEPA10 (Men), UAEPA100 (Men) and U-16 (Open).

Commenting on the padel tour, Ahmed Abdelaal, CEO of Mashreq Group, said: “The Mashreq Padel Tour 2023 is a testament to our commitment to supporting the growth and development of sport in the UAE. We are proud to partner with the UAE Padel Association and this exciting new Championship series, which will provide a platform for amateur players to showcase their skills and compete for huge prize money. From its early days, padel tennis has become one of the most popular tennis, and it is in line with our diverse offering at Mashreq.”

Prize money of AED 4,000, AED 12,000 and AED 15,000 will be awarded to the first place winners of the UAEEPA10, UAE100 and UAEEPAE&E Championships respectively. The second-placed teams will receive AED 3,000, AED 6,000 and AED 8,000, while the third and fourth-placed teams will receive AED 2,000, AED 4,000 and AED 4,000 respectively bonus.

The UAEEPA has imposed restrictions to protect the sporting integrity of the Mashreq Padel Tour and to ensure the competitive balance of the community-focused amateur championship. Therefore, professional coaches, national team representatives, top 30 professional players in the world, or players with a UAEPA ranking will be excluded from the UAEEPA10 events.
