AquaChemie to open $50m petrochemical terminal at Jebel Ali Port

AquaChemie Middle East, a leading regional player in process industrial chemicals in the GCC region, has opened a AED184 million (US$50 million) world-class petrochemical terminal at DP World’s Jebel Ali Port in Dubai.

The state-of-the-art chemical terminal covers an area of ​​20,000 square meters and is approximately 500 meters from Jebel Ali Port’s chemical berth 4. Storage capacity 34,000 cubic meters

The 26 large storage tanks in tank farms A, B, C and D have a total storage capacity of more than 34,000 cubic meters and are well-equipped to handle more than 100 UN Class 3 and Class 8 chemicals.

The terminal has three tanker loading and unloading areas for top and bottom loading of tanker and ISO tanks, five semi-automatic barreling lines, a storage facility with more than 6,300 barrels, a dedicated ISO tank storage area, and Weighbridge at truck entrance.

The facility was officially inaugurated on 2nd February 2023 at a well-attended opening ceremony featuring Abdullah Bin Damithan, CEO & Managing Director, DP World UAE & Jafza; Guest of Honour, Consul General of India in Dubai and Northern UAE Oman Dr. Puri; together with Subrato Saha, Managing Director, AquaChemie; and Anand Kumar, Managing Director, AquaChemie; in front of senior officials, industry partners and media at DP World and Jafza.

AquaChemie commissioned Mott MacDonald, a globally renowned engineering, management and development consultancy, for the detailed engineering design and project management of the new facility, which also involved the region’s leading mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and civil contractors Project completion work. time.

The foundation stone of the petrochemical terminal was laid on November 23, 2020 and the new facility received the OFC (Operational Health Certificate) and all necessary regulatory certifications from Dubai Civil Defense and DP World on January 18, 2023.

The facility has been fully assessed by CDI-T (Chemicals Distribution Institute – Terminals) and certified to ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018. The terminal has already served the first vessel carrying chemicals.

Central control room

The terminal is fully monitored and controlled by the central control room. AquaChemie’s corporate headquarters building is co-located with the terminal facility to keep the leadership team close at hand. The corporate building houses the terminal’s operations control room, offices for support and sales personnel, dining and entertainment areas, management offices and boardrooms.

Kumar explained: “Our new state-of-the-art terminal is a step forward in the backward integration of oil and gas products we currently supply to the upstream and downstream petrochemical industries. “The new terminal will also assist in the formation of strategic alliances with regional and global petrochemical manufacturers to distribute bulk products in smaller packages to customers.
