2023 Asian Badminton Mixed Team Championships Schedule Announced

DUBAI: The long-awaited Asian Badminton Mixed Team Championships 2023 schedule was announced on Sunday, and badminton lovers will be here to witness non-stop action from 14 February.

On opening day, top teams, including defending champions China, will compete in their respective groups (round robin) at Dubai Expo City Exhibition Center for six days of intense badminton competition.

China will face Uzbekistan in Group A, while fellow top seeds Japan (Group D) and Indonesia (Group C) will face Pakistan and Syria in their opening games.

Hosts UAE will also be in action on opening day, taking on Malaysia in Group B of the second session.

While the three groups (A, B, D) will see one team play three draws each, teams in Group C will play four draws each before both teams advance to the quarter-finals .

The top two teams in each of the four groups will advance to the knockout stage, which will begin after the draw on day 4 of the tournament (17 February 2023).

The semi-finals will be played on Saturday, while the final is scheduled for Sunday (19 February 2023).

Held under the patronage of Sheikh Nahayan bin Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence and Honorary Chairman of the UAE Badminton Federation, the event will feature 17 badminton world-renowned teams, including Olympic medalists, who will lead their teams . respective teams.

“We are very pleased to announce the schedule for the Asian Badminton Mixed Team Championships in Dubai 2023. All the top teams will be in action from day one. There will be a lot to cheer for the local fans, not just theirs The home teams play and watch their favorite international stars,” said Dr Sathya Menon, CEO of Beyond Boundaries, the event’s local organizer.

The UAE Badminton Federation also expressed their excitement as a young and dynamic home team is ready to start their journey at the prestigious tournament.

“Our players are excited to start their campaign. I wish the UAE team and all participating teams the best of luck,” said Noura Aljasmi, President of the UAE Badminton Federation.

This is the first time for the UAE to host the Asian Badminton Championships, which is of great significance as the qualifying window for the Olympic Games. The event also gives players the opportunity to qualify for key badminton tournaments such as the Sudirman Cup, Thomas Cup and Uber Cup.
