dans, MBRSC sign MoU for aerospace communications, navigation and surveillance infrastructure

DUBAI – Dubai Air Navigation Services (dans) and the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center (MBRSC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to explore satellite technology enablers in line with the ICAO Aviation System Block Upgrades (ASBUs) framework , to modernize and enhance aerospace communications, navigation and surveillance infrastructure.

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports, Chairman and CEO of Emirates Airline and Group, and Chairman of dans, said: “This MoU recognizes Advances in aerospace and air traffic management in the UAE as a major country in this field. In the long run, this deal fulfills the vision of making Dubai the ‘Airport of the World’.

“The rise of the UAE, and Dubai in particular, as a growing global aviation hub linking East and West fully embodies our ambitions for air travel and the future of air travel. I am sure that this agreement is a step towards strengthening our A major step forward in aviation infrastructure that will help raise global standards and strengthen our technical effectiveness and air traffic management resilience. Regarding the partnership, Hamad Obaid AlMansoori, Chairman of MBRSC, said: “We have demonstrated that space technology and research can generate broad economic benefits and fuel growth in various industries, including aviation. and real-time knowledge to further facilitate and accelerate the advancement of aerospace and air traffic management capabilities.”

Senior officials from both organizations attended the MoU signing ceremony.

dans is the only ANSP at four airports, including DXB, the world’s largest airport by international passengers, which has served more than 1.115 billion passengers and more than 7.47 million flights since its inception in 1960.

MBRSC is the government organization behind space satellite projects such as the UAE Mars Mission, the UAE Moon Mission and the UAE Astronaut Programme.

The latest collaboration seeks to explore satellite technology enablers that follow the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) Aeronautical System Block Upgrades (ASBUs) framework to modernize and enhance aerospace communications, navigation and surveillance infrastructure.

The two organizations will work together to enhance the vision of cooperation between them by exchanging practical experience and developing human resources to facilitate the implementation of the MOU. They will also collaborate in all areas, activities and systems of data linking to serve the general interests of the UAE, one of the world’s most dynamic economies and knowledge and technology hubs.

Under the 18-art MOU, the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center and Dubai Air Navigation Services said they will cooperate in the field of satellite technology and exchange data and information to facilitate next-generation aviation in the region. They are keen to create an organizational framework for the collaboration between them.

They also agreed to work together to enhance cooperation horizons by exchanging practical experience and developing human resources to facilitate the implementation of the MOU. They will also cooperate in all areas, activities and systems of data linking to serve the overall interests of the UAE. The two organizations will study the possibility of technical cooperation between them.
