ABU DHABI, 8th February, 2023 (WAM) — President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received a delegation from the Abu Dhabi Center for Technical and Vocational Education and Training, ACTVET , including the number of medals won at the 46th WorldSkills Competition.
The group was accompanied by Dr. Mubarak Saeed Al Shamsi, Director General of ACTVET.
During the meeting at Qasr Al Bahr, President His Highness Sheikh Mohammed congratulated the emirate’s skills team for their achievements, having won a gold medal and nine “Medals of Excellence” at the global WorldSkills competition.
His Highness commended ACTVET for its important role in empowering young people to achieve their ambitions and keep pace with the latest technological developments.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed emphasized the importance of the UAE’s commitment to developing its people through education and training, as well as stimulating the innovative spirit and competitiveness of young people in the fields of science and technology.
Dr Al Shamsi expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the nation’s leaders for their continued support, enabling ACTVET to fulfill its mission of increasing training and educational opportunities for young people.
Members of the ACTVET delegation expressed their delight at meeting the UAE President and vowed to build on their achievements and further strengthen the UAE’s contribution on the world stage.
The 46th WorldSkills Competition was recently held in Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria, South Korea, Denmark and the United States. The Emirates Skills team’s medal total, the highest ever for a Middle East and Africa team, is a testament to ACTVET’s strategy – aligned with Abu Dhabi’s Economic Vision 2030 and UAE Centennial Plan 2071 – to build an institutional cultural and technical education system for secondary school students excellence and innovation.
