February 9 (United Press International) — Japan reached deal with Philippine president on Thursday to continue military alliance Ferdinand Marcos Jr. responds to concerns about China.

The collaboration comes amid concerns that China could take more aggressive military action against Taiwan, a move that could disrupt the region.
The relationship between the Philippines and Japan is “stronger than ever as we navigate together the choppy waters affecting our region,” Marcos said. He added that the two countries would step up cooperation in “a wide range of mutually beneficial cooperation areas”.
