Musa Ekirirweira, a Ugandan expatriate who recently returned to Abu Dhabi after returning home for a short vacation, said the new regulations are a huge relief for travelers.
“I am very satisfied with the new procedure. They are very helpful and will bring convenience to the lives of travelers,” he said.
Ekirirweira said that although he had received all the vaccines, he had to quarantine for 10 days when he returned to Abu Dhabi from Uganda, who was not on the green list last week.
“As part of the quarantine process, since I landed in Abu Dhabi, I have undergone more than three PCR tests. This is too much and it is a bit annoying,” he said.
The Ugandan national also added that the new measures may encourage more community members to be vaccinated, especially those who want to go home for a holiday.
The wife of Amjad Hassan, a Jordanian expatriate who will return from Amman next week, said he is happy that his wife-who has been vaccinated-does not have to be isolated.
“She is worried that due to the 10-day quarantine, she will not be able to immediately report to work that requires her to be there in person,” he said.
Some expats even avoided traveling because they were afraid of the old quarantine procedures. This is the case with Pakistani engineer Mohamed Sharif, who said he could not go home to visit his sick mother.
He said: “My work needs to be in person. There are not many days in my annual leave to go home to accompany my mother, and I have to go back here to quarantine for 10 days.” “There is no need to quarantine vaccinated travelers. Book a flight when she needs me and go home to visit her.”
