KAHRAMANMARAÅž, 12th February, 2023 (WAM) — His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, today visited some earthquake-stricken areas in KahramanmaraÅŸ, Turkey.
Turkish officials briefed Sheikh Abdullah on the progress of the relief efforts, Turkey’s efforts to mitigate the earthquake’s impact, and international support provided to the country.
His Highness Sheikh Abdullah affirmed that under the direction of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE is keen to stand with the Turkish people and provide The support and assistance they need to help them get through this ordeal.
He expressed sincere condolences and sympathy to the Turkish people and the families of the victims of the devastating earthquake in Turkey, and prayed to Almighty Allah to have mercy on the victims and speedy recovery of the injured.
Sheikh Abdullah also visited the headquarters of the UAE Search and Rescue Team in Turkey, which is conducting part of Operation Valiant Rider/2. HH was received by Colonel Nayef Ahmed Al Hosani, Commander of the Higher Command Group of the Joint Operations Command of the Ministry of Defense, and members of the group.
HH shook hands with members of the UAE Search and Rescue Team, commending their efforts in the execution of Operation Valiant Rider/2, launched by the UAE at the direction of its wise leadership to alleviate the suffering of those affected by the disasters that recently swept through Turkey and Earthquake in Syria.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation also met with Turkish Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu in Kahramanmaraş, emphasizing that the UAE will continue to support the Republic of Turkey during these difficult times.
Sheikh Abdullah was accompanied by Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, and Saeed Thani Hareb Al Dhaheri, UAE Ambassador to Turkey.
