Dubai’s newest landmark, The Royal Atlantis, the world’s most luxurious resort, opened yesterday (22 January) with the world’s most famous performer and global icon, Beyoncé Unforgettable performance.
More than 1,000 celebrities and special guests gathered under the resort’s iconic façade to witness the event.
Beyoncé’s 60-minute performance – her first live performance since 2018 – opened with a stunning rendition of the Etta James classic “At Last,” before she revealed to a star-studded audience Some of the greatest hits, including “Halo” and “Crazy in Love.”
With powerful vocals, dynamic choreography and stunning compositions, the global superstar is accompanied by the 48-piece all-female orchestra Firdaus and directed by Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman. Also on stage were America’s Got Talent winners from The Mayyas, an all-female precision dance troupe from Lebanon, choreographed by Emmy nominee Fatima Robinson.
Beyoncé-founded entertainment company Parkwood Entertainment, inspired by working with the region’s leading entrepreneurial women, has teamed up with IAM Entertainment, founded by CEO Sonal Vara-Parmar, who is also managing director of the Royal Atlantis hotel. Manager Tim Kelly works closely to deliver iconic once-in-a-lifetime moments.
In a breath-taking finale, against the stunning backdrop of the Royal Atlantis hotel, the most Grammy-nominated artist (tied with her husband JAY-Z) performed at Skyblaze, one of the world’s unique performance fountains was lifted 16 feet into the air. In an atmosphere where water and fire blend together, a shocking song “Drunken Love” put an end to this majestic and magnificent performance.
Wardrobe designed by Atelier Zuhra in Dubai, Nicolas Jebran in Lebanon, Frolov in Ukraine and Dolce and Gabbana, Beyoncé joins her parents and family, including husband JAY-Z, and special guests from around the world, including the UK edition of Vogue editor Edward Ennifer, model Kendall Jenner, actress Rebel Wilson, singer Chloe Halle, actress Letitia Wright, actor Winston Dukes. Britain’s favorite couples including Millie Mackintosh and Hugo Taylor, Rochelle Marvin Humes, Mark Wright and Michelle Keegan came together to watch the star’s The performance, which also featured Israeli model Bar Rafaeli, actress Ellen Pompeo and socialite Jonathan Cheban.
The epic show was followed by a fireworks and drone extravaganza that lit up Dubai’s newest landmark, echoing the launch of Atlantis, The Palm to the world in 2008. As the fireworks fell, Swedish House Mafia took to the stage to perform hits including “One” and “Don’t You Worry Child,” and guests celebrated well into the early hours.
Saturday’s spectacular feast was the culmination of the resort’s Grand Reveal weekend, with guests dining in the kitchens of world-class chefs including Nobu, Jose Andres and Heston Blumenthal. The weekend also featured a star-studded Nobu and Ling grand opening event, as well as the launch of Kendall Jenner’s 818 Tequila at Cloud 22, the resort’s sky pool.
