Jakarta (Antara) – The Indonesian Police has sent the best personnel of the Mobile Brigade (Brimob) to Al-Raweyah in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to participate in the country’s fourth UAE SWAT Challenge.
“I hereby send 20 of the best officers of Police Brimob to participate in the 4th UAE SWAT Challenge in Dubai, United Arab Emirates,” (Brimob) Commander Commissioner General Anang Revandoko said at the sending ceremony in Depok, West Java, on Sunday. one morning.
He noted that Brimob personnel will represent Indonesia for the second time in a competition hosted by Dubai Police.
Revandoko said the involvement of these officers will allow the Indonesian police to gauge its capabilities relative to global police forces.
In his speech, the commander also urged the outgoing Brimob personnel to maintain the good image of Indonesia, the Indonesian police and Brimob.
“Preserve and maintain the dignity of the country and the nation, as well as the mobile brigade force of the police,” Revandoko affirmed.
In the first show of the UAE SWAT Challenge in 2019, Brimob sent the Gegana team, known for its special functions such as bomb disposal and anti-terrorism, and successfully won the 18th place among 49 participants.
During that time, Brimob fielded two teams – Team Brimob A and Team Brimob B – to compete. In assault races, obstacle races, tower races, officer rescue, tactical races and other events, the two teams mainly focus on assault races in the challenge competition.
According to the UAE SWAT Challange website, Team Brimob B is 18th, while Team Brimob A is 26th.
This shows that, while not in the top 10, the two teams rank among several SWAT teams in other countries, including the NYPD in the United States, GROM in Russia and Serbia’s special counter-terrorism unit.
