In the incredible scene at the New Kimica Arena in Sao Paulo, when a group of Brazilian public health officials came on the field, the game between the two South American football giants stopped, triggering a scuffle between team staff and players.

As the commotion erupted, the Argentine players trudged from the court to the locker room. Argentina captain Lionel Messi later reappeared from the tunnel without wearing the team jersey, and chaos swept the stadium.

The South American Football Federation (CONMEBOL) said in a statement that the game has been “suspended” but did not specify whether the game will resume or replay.

“According to the decision of the match referee, the FIFA World Cup qualifiers organized by Brazil and Argentina were suspended,” it said.

Just a few hours after the Brazilian health authorities stated that four players in the Argentina team in England should be “immediately quarantined” for violating the COVID-19 agreement, they made a surprising intervention.

Romero, Lo Celso and Martinez were all in the Argentine starting lineup at the start of Sunday’s game-triggering an intervention in officials wearing ANVISA jerseys.

The four Premier League players—Lo Celso and Romero playing for Tottenham Hotspur, while Martinez and Buendia played for Aston Villa—have been accused of failing to disclose their prior arrival. 14 days spent in the UK.

“We got here because everything that ANVISA directed from the beginning was not realized,” ANVISA director Antonio Baratores said on Brazilian TV.

The statement said.

ANVISA stated that the Brazilian Federal Police has been notified to “take necessary measures immediately.”

Argentina coach Lionel Scaroni slammed the Brazilian authorities after the suspension of the game.

“It makes me feel very sad-we are victims because we want to play this game, the Brazilian players want to play, and this show is about to be staged,” Scaloni told Argentina’s TyCSports channel.

Scaroni said that this game “should be a gathering for everyone to enjoy the game with the best players in the world.”

The dispute occurred after nine Brazilians in the Premier League failed to travel to South America due to opposition from the club.
