During the meeting, Sisi spoke about the challenges he faced as president in his efforts to stabilize Egypt following the 2011 political events.
He praised the crucial support given by the UAE President.
Sisi praised the leadership of the UAE President in supporting other Arab countries, saying: “His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed contributed greatly to bringing stability to Egypt when he visited the country in 2013 and understands the country demand. He ordered the diversion of ships carrying vital oil commodities across the Mediterranean to Egypt to help overcome the crisis.”
The Egyptian president has urged Arab states to oppose any interference aimed at undermining strong ties in the region.
“Since 2011, Egypt has gone through enormous challenges, costing the country approximately $450 billion. Rapid population growth is another major challenge facing Egypt. Recently, we have seen a population increase of 25 million, making The total population reached 105 million, compared to 81 million over the past decade,” he said.
Sisi stressed that Egyptians were able to overcome the state of division and hopelessness after 2011 and achieve development.
“Egypt’s experience in achieving success and progress must be shared, as it shows an example of the role of government in meeting challenges.”
Sisi said that Egypt has successfully eliminated terrorism, a key challenge that largely threatens Egypt’s security. “We were able to create a safe and stable environment,” he noted, emphasizing the government’s unique approach to addressing challenges through creative initiatives and ideas.
Following the events of 2011, electricity is another major challenge for Egypt as the country spends EGP 1.7 trillion to improve the sector.
Sisi said Egypt’s development has been hampered by slow urban growth over the past 150 years, with the population accounting for only 5 percent of the country’s total area.
To address this pressing issue, the government has built 24 new smart cities and developed infrastructure projects.
Sisi explained that the Egyptian government has made great strides in improving the health sector through the implementation of the National Health Plan.
He said Egypt’s completed infrastructure projects and road network had saved the country some $8 billion.
The Egyptian president added that the government had drawn up a comprehensive plan in 2011 to improve Egypt’s administrative structure.
The government has managed to provide more than 1.5 million jobs for its citizens in its efforts to combat unemployment.
During his meeting, the president spoke of Egypt’s new administrative capital, which represents a new center of growth for future generations.
The 10th World Government Summit brought together 20 Heads of State and Government, more than 250 ministers and 10,000 business leaders, government officials, thought leaders and experts from around the world to discuss the future of government.
The summit has more than 220 sessions and 300 speakers.
