Moro Hub opens largest solar-powered data center in Dubai

Data Hub Integrated Solutions (Moro Hub) has announced the inauguration of its green data center at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the largest single-site solar park in the world.

The opening ceremony saw Moro Hub sign agreements with its key technology partners and clients, including Dell Technologies, Microsoft, Huawei, VMWare, Emirates NBD, Digital Dubai Authority and Dubai Islamic Bank.

Moro Hub, a subsidiary of Digital Dewa, the digital arm of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa), has been recognized by Guinness World Records as the largest solar-powered data center.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, inaugurated the green data center in the presence of Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dewa.

After the launch, Sheikh Hamdan toured the facility where Al Tayer briefed him on the facility’s integrated solutions aimed at delivering digital transformation, cloud and managed services, cyber security, smart cities, IoT services and professional and technical domains next generation services. “Moro Hub’s solar data center also supports our efforts to achieve the goals of our Net Zero 2050 strategic plan,” said Al Tayer.

E said Moro Hub has been a frontrunner in facilitating digital transformation and sustainable development and enhancing its integrated solutions to help organizations and companies achieve net zero carbon emissions.

“It reflects our commitment to supporting sustainable economic development and our efforts to transform Dubai into a global hub for a green economy,” he said.

He noted that the initiative is particularly important as it comes a year when the largest international climate conference, the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 28), is being hosted in the UAE.
