Ex-Pakistan Musharraf dies at 79

Pervez Musharraf: Former Pakistani President General Pervez Musharraf (retired) has died at a hospital in Dubai after a long illness, news agency ANI said, citing a tweet from Geographic News Pakistan. The former Our Star general died of amyloidosis, his family said, according to local media reports. He was hospitalized a few weeks ago. He is 79 years old.

Former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf died in Dubai on Sunday after a long illness. He was diagnosed with life-threatening amyloidosis in 2018. He traveled to Dubai in March and has not returned to Pakistan since. Fawad Hussain, a senior leader of Pakistan’s Justice Movement, expressed his condolences on Twitter, writing: “Pervez Musharraf has passed away, a great man whose thought and consciousness Form is always Pakistan No. 1. May God have mercy on him.”

Last year, Pervez Musharraf’s family shared an update on his health, revealing that he was in a stage of no recovery. “He is not on a ventilator. Has been hospitalized for the past 3 weeks due to disease complications (amyloidosis). Going through a difficult phase of no recovery and organ failure. Prayers for his daily life,” the family said.

About Pervez Musharraf

Former Pakistani politician and four-star general Pervez Musharraf became the 10th president of Pakistan. He was born in Delhi during the British Raj but grew up in Lahore and Istanbul. In 1998, he was promoted to four-star general by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, making Musharraf the head of the armed forces.

Musharraf is known for leading the Kargil infiltration that culminated in the 1999 war between India and Pakistan.
