On Monday, an Air India flight could not take off from Delhi Airport because a colony of ants was found in the business class of the flight. The prince of Bhutan is a passenger on this flight.

A source told ANI on Monday: “The crew immediately notified the pilot that there was a group of ants on the plane, and then the pilot of the plane decided not to take off.”

Air India’s AI-111 flight was originally scheduled to fly to London (LHR) airport on time, but then business class passengers complained about ants on the business seats.

Subsequently, the Air India flight was taken to the technical area of the airport for a thorough inspection. All 248 passengers disembarked.

“The plane was taken to the technical cabin for inspection. All passengers were disembarked and taken to the terminal,” said the Delhi Airport Aviation Safety Agency.

All passengers, including the prince of Bhutan, were forced to wait for more than two hours at the international terminal of Indira Gandhi International Airport. After passing through immigration and security checks again, all passengers were finally allowed to board the plane.

“Due to technical issues, this aircraft has been replaced and has left,” said an official of Air India.

In May of this year, after the pilots reported the presence of bats to the air traffic control department, an Air India flight that took off from Delhi Airport earlier on Thursday returned.
