ADNEC acquires ExCel, the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in London

The Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Corporation (ADNEC) is part of ADQ, one of the largest holding companies in the region, and has added a new hotel to its portfolio: DoubleTreeBy Hilton London ExCel.

The announcement is in line with ADNEC’s long-term investment strategy, which aims to achieve the diversification of the entire group’s business and achieve the best integration of assets through diversified economic fields. In view of ADNEC’s extensive experience and capabilities in the entire hotel industry, this decision will further support the business and leisure tourism industry in the UAE and the United Kingdom, as well as the development of the local community around the hotel.

This increase brings the total number of hotel portfolios of ADNEC to 6, and other hotels under management include Aloft Abu Dhabi, Andaz Capital Gate Hotel, Sir Anantara Abu Dhabi, Baniyas Island, Abu Dhabi Than Hotel and Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort in Anantara, UAE. It also owns Aloft London ExCel.

This acquisition is the latest major development in the hotel business of the ADNEC Group. This move represents the company’s long-term vision, but also represents the company is ready to lead the recovery phase after the pandemic. The transfer of the hotel to ADNEC will take effect immediately.

ADNEC’s new investment is part of a long-term strategy that began in 2008 through the acquisition of ExCeL London. It launched an expansion project, adding 35,000 square meters of event space, including the London International Conference Centre (ICC), Europe’s largest auditorium (4,500 seats), 17 additional meeting rooms, and group discussion and banquet space. In 2011, ADNEC announced the opening of the Aloft London Hotel, which was the first hotel owned by the group in the UK.

DoubleTreeBy Hilton London ExCelis is close to ExCeL London, a famous exhibition center in London, which is also owned by ADNEC Group. This nine-story hotel was built in 2011 and has 287 keys. The hotel is located on the shore of the Royal Wharf, close to Canary Wharf, providing guests with a variety of dining and leisure options.
