Bangkok [Thailand]February 21 (ANI): Thai police have revoked the visa of a man from China for his alleged involvement in illegal immigration from their country to Bangkok, the Bangkok Post reported.

Chinese Yu Xinqi, president of the Shaanxi Association of Thailand, was taken away by Thai immigration police on Friday and interrogated on suspicion of establishing and operating an improper business network in the country.

The move comes after Kadima MP Rangsiman Rome revealed in Wednesday’s House debate that another Chinese mafia leader was involved in a shady business network similar to that of Chinese businessman Chaiyanat “Tuhao” Kornchayanant. He identified the suspect as Yu, the Bangkok Post reported.

Earlier, ex-massage parlor tycoon and politician Chuvit Kamolvisit told Rangsiman that the suspect had set up the Shaanxi Association, which is under the police jurisdiction of Kannayao, as a cover for mafia activities.

On Friday, Immigration Bureau (IB) police chief Pakphumpipat Sajjaphan said he was detained under immigration law after police found Yu’s misconduct in relation to establishing an unlicensed or illegal association. IB has revoked his visa.

According to the head of the IB, Yu holds a retirement visa and has been in Saudi Arabia for two years. He later submitted an application to stay in Chonburi for another year under the immigration criteria. According to the Bangkok Post, this type of visa is issued to foreigners aged 50 or over who wish to stay in Thailand.

This has become so common in Thailand. In January, Thai police detained 19 suspects suspected of being part of an illegal business syndicate linked to Chinese businessman Chaiyanant “Tuhao” Kornchayanant.

The Attorney General’s Office (OAG) said the 19 people detained were among the suspects listed in 37 arrest warrants issued by Bangkok’s Southern Criminal Court, the Bangkok Post reported. (Arnie)
