OAKWOOD VILLAGE, Ohio, Feb. 21 (AP) — A maintenance worker at an Ohio metal plant was killed in an explosion that sparked a fire that sent more than a dozen people to hospital and at least two others, authorities said. The person is in critical condition.
Shortly before 3 p.m. Monday, emergency responders received a call from I. Schumann & Co. Copper Alloys in Oakwood Village, a suburb of Cleveland. The explosion shook the ground, scattering debris for hundreds of yards and damaging several cars, while smoke billowed up in a cloud that could be seen for miles.

Steven Mullins, 46, of North Ridgeville, died in the blast, according to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office. Another 13 people are being treated in hospital, mainly for burns and related injuries, authorities said.
