Boeing confirms commitment to UAE defense strategy

During a defense and services media briefing held during Idex 2023 in Abu Dhabi, Boeing reaffirmed its commitment to a long-term partnership with the UAE and support for the country’s defense strategy.

During the event, Vince Logsdon, Vice President of International Business Development, Boeing Defense, Space and Security, and Global Services; Rick Lemaster, Head of Sales and Marketing, Middle East; Dave Fluker, Head of International Business Development, Insitu; Mark Ba, Head of Business Development, International Government Services​​ Llew took center stage to showcase Boeing’s advanced technologies and capabilities and how they can be used to improve security in the UAE and conduct international humanitarian missions.

“The UAE is an important market for Boeing and we have a long history of partnership and collaboration over the past 45 years, working closely with the UAE government and armed forces to achieve the country’s goals and ambitions,” Logsdon said in a media briefing. Consistently strive to provide a full range of capabilities based on our products and services, including training, supply chain management, aircraft modernization, platform maintenance and data optimization, so our customers have access to the world’s largest global aerospace company support and expertise.”

The Defense and Space Market Outlook 2022-2031 forecasts that the global defense, space and security market will be worth $2.8 trillion over the next decade. This forecast is based on continued demand driven by geopolitical and security challenges, as well as the continued importance of military aircraft, autonomous systems, satellites, spacecraft and other defense products and services.

As of the fourth quarter of 2022, Boeing Defense, Space & Security had a $54 billion order backlog, 28% of which represented orders from customers outside the United States.

In the UAE, Boeing works with the country’s armed forces to promote state-of-the-art Boeing products and services, including the AH-64 Apache, CH-47 Chinook and C-17 Globemaster III. Boeing also works closely with industry partners to contribute to the country’s industrialization success, including a partnership with the Tawazun Economic Council. Since its inception, the collaboration has led to key industrial initiatives and expanded the UAE’s aerospace base.

Boeing continues to support the UAE’s efforts to diversify its economy and adopt advanced technologies to accelerate its digital transformation journey. With the aviation industry also setting targets for carbon-neutral growth from 2020, Boeing and the UAE share a vision for sustainable development and will work with the country to achieve its sustainability goals and year to achieve the goal of net zero emissions.

Designing and manufacturing more advanced products with greater fuel efficiency and lower carbon emissions is a key business tenet of Boeing. The company said it has invested $60 billion in new technologies to improve efficiency since 2003.
