Air service agreements have been signed with many countries, paving the way for international air connections. The agreement provides a legal framework for air business between the two countries based on the principle of national sovereignty, the nationality of the carrier and the reciprocity of commercial opportunities for the designated airlines of both parties.

Currently, there is no Air Services Agreement (ASA) between the governments of India and Guyana.

Additionally, India and Guyana are signatories to the Convention on International Civil Aviation (Chicago Convention), according to the press release. Delegations representing both governments met on 6 December 2016 in Nassau, Bahamas for the ICAO Air Services Negotiation Event between India and Guyana according to the date 6 December 2016.

Guyana Vice President Bharat Jagdeo arrived in India on Monday to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

“Warmly welcome Guyana Vice President Bharat Jagdeo to India. This visit will further strengthen Indo-Guyana bilateral cooperation and people-to-people ties,” foreign ministry spokesman Arindam Bachi said on Twitter.

Guyana President Mohammad Irrfan Ali was the chief guest at the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas held in Indore, Madhya Pradesh on January 10.

The Congress is the flagship event of the Federal Government and provides an important platform for engaging and connecting with Indians abroad and enabling the diaspora to interact with each other. (Arnie)
