The facility includes a fully robotic three-cam studio, four dedicated craft newsrooms and a modern open plan newsroom, each with sit/stand desks and dedicated monitoring tools.
CNN announced it will be live on Monday, February 27 from a new state-of-the-art broadcast facility in Abu Dhabi, marking a new chapter in the network’s commitment to the Middle East.
Located at Yas Creative Centre, the home of media, entertainment and gaming in Abu Dhabi, the new CNN bureau expands the size and scope of its operations in the UAE. As one of the network’s major international production centers alongside Atlanta, New York, London and Hong Kong, it also marks the latest of several major investments by CNN in technology and editorial production.
The new Abu Dhabi bureau is CNN’s latest new facility in recent years. The network began broadcasting in 2019 from a new studio in New York, followed by a high-tech facility in London in 2020, and will soon be broadcasting from a brand new studio in Atlanta.
Commenting on the new facility, Mike McCarthy, executive vice president and general manager of CNN International, said: “CNN Abu Dhabi is an important part of our global newsgathering and programming operations. This new investment underscores the importance and we are excited to Excited to share what it will bring to audiences around the world.”
The new multi-million dollar Abu Dhabi hub features the latest in broadcast technology. Its 80-square-meter studio will be home to CNN’s international flagship current affairs program, Connecting the World with Becky Anderson, including a 10 megapixel video wall and a suite of fully robotic 4k cameras. The facility also houses four dedicated craft editing suites and utilizes hybrid digital and IP video/audio workflows for the highest quality, fully integrated productions.
