exclusive: this new york post Hoping to get into the TV game with a first-look impromptu deal with a producer Asylum Entertainment Group.
The tabloid, owned by Rupert Murdoch, is looking to adapt its stories into documentaries, limited series and series.
The move will see Asylum’s production companies, Texas Crew Productions, Auditity and The Content Group (TCG), as well as Big City TV and Breaklight Pictures, find stories suitable for the small screen.
It marks latest newspaper conglomerate to eye TV project; New York Times strikes deal new york times gift with FX and Hulu, while The Washington Post recently struck a similar deal with Imagine Entertainment.
Previously, Breaklight Pictures partnered with the newspaper to adapt Post reporter Hannah Frishberg’s in-depth coverage of the international megachurch Hillsong into a Discovery+ limited series Hillsong: Exposed megachurch.
The deal with Asylum will also include priority rights to the publications Barron’s and MarketWatch.
The newspaper operates its own New York Post Entertainment, which co-produces Hillsong: The Megachurch Exposedalso gossip For Showtime and Torn from the headlines: The New York Post presents Used for discovery IDs.
