17 new parks the size of football fields open in Sharjah

Sharjah: With the inauguration of Al Qara’in Park 2 by the City Council and Sharjah Municipality, Sharjah has opened a new park covering an area of ​​70,085 square meters (7.085 hectares, or about 17.3 acres) – equivalent to more than 17 football fields.

The new park complies with the directives of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.

The new park enhances the green belt of the emirate and provides quality services and amenities, while protecting the privacy of families by providing a park for each community.

The opening ceremony was attended by Salem Ali Al Muhairi, Chairman of Sharjah City Council, Khalid Abdullah Al Raboui, Chairman of Muwaileh Suburban Council, Mubarak Al Shamsi, Mayor of Al Hamriya, and other Sharjah City Council members and city officials.

Salem Ali Al Muhairi highlighted Sharjah’s commitment to developing parks for residents and visitors.

Obaid Saeed Al Tunaiji, Director-General of the Sharjah Municipality, explained that Al Qara’in Park 2 is part of the agricultural project implemented by the Sharjah Municipality last year and is a new addition to the Sharjah Municipal Park.

Sharjah has more than 70 parks, offering residents and visitors the ideal environment to enjoy, relax and practice a variety of sports.

These parks provide a platform for children and students to implement various recreational and educational workshops.

7 hectares of garden

According to Al Tunaiji, the garden has an area of ​​70,085 square meters.

The city carried out agricultural work and provided various service facilities, and the cultivated land area reached about 67,473 square meters – including green plants and various seasonal flowers.

There are 9,250 species of flowering plants in the area. Seedlings of 7,278 different plants and shrubs were also planted.

Service Facilities

The municipal government also provides service facilities in the park to provide services for tourists, including

  • a football field
  • children’s play area
  • Disabled Children’s Play Area
  • Wooden benches and toilets.

The city is also committed to lighting the park with 112 eco-friendly light poles.

Al Tunaiji noted that the opening of the park coincided with the sixth Sharjah Festival of Culture and People.

The festival aims to strengthen communication between families and build cultural bridges with people in an atmosphere of happiness and joy, contributing to the Emirate’s role in caring for individuals and society and strengthening social ties.
