The United Arab Emirates officially opened its embassy in Tel Aviv, Israel on Wednesday, marking another milestone in the diplomatic relations between the two countries following the Abraham Agreement.

The event was held in the presence of the new Israeli President Isaac Herzog, UAE Food and Water Security Minister Mariam Al-Muhairi, UAE Ambassador to Israel Mohamed Al Khaja and other local officials.

This historic moment included the raising of the UAE flag, the ribbon-cutting ceremony and the opening of the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, and the inauguration of the Israeli Embassy in Abu Dhabi during the first ministerial visit of the Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid Held after the week. .

In his opening speech, Ambassador Al Khaja mentioned that the human spirit is the main force that drives the relationship forward.

“The embassy will not only serve as [place] Diplomats, but as the basis for our mission to continue to build new partnerships… to establish a new paradigm for peace and provide a model for new ways of cooperation,” Al Khaja said.

Israeli President Isaac Herzog described the two countries as innovative nations with shared values, and their relationship will benefit the entire region.

Herzog said: “The opening of the embassy is an important milestone for us to jointly move towards a future of peace, prosperity and security in the Middle East.”

The inauguration of the embassy was coordinated with the visit of Mariam Al-Muhairi, Minister of Food and Water Security of the UAE, chaired by the Israeli Minister of Agriculture Oded Forer.

The UAE and Israel signed the first cooperation agreement in the agricultural sector on Tuesday. The agreement will focus on research and innovation, including advancing the development of water resources management and irrigation.
