Bob’s Golf Club Brings Entertainment to Main Street – The McPherson Sentinel

On February 24, Bob’s Golf Club, a new indoor golf simulator located at 112 North McPherson Street, held a ribbon cutting ceremony.

Hoyt Estes, owner of McPherson Business Solutions, who kicked off the event for the McPherson Chamber of Commerce, said he enjoyed the fact that it took him a while to park because of how busy Main Street was.

While McPherson has everything you could possibly need, Estes says the town lacks something when it comes to entertainment. “Seeing a place like this, getting it up and running, seeing how it works, and hearing from all of my buddies who’ve played the game has been amazing,” Estes said. “It’s great to have you guys on the street.”

Tiffani Floyd, president of the McPherson Chamber of Commerce and Realtors for Four Seasons Realtors, congratulated Robert Stevens and Bob LaSalle on their new business and said she was involved in the process.

“I’m excited to help them rent the space and see the transformation happen,” Floyd said. “They’ve worked around the clock to make this place ready and the transformation has been unbelievable, so I’m so proud of them.”

Floyd also gifted the owners the Chamber’s first profits.

Robert Stevens thanks everyone who helped them realize their vision. Since he was more concerned with the labor side of things, he handed it over to Bob LaSalle to share in the creation of the business.

“We are very grateful to several people,” LaSalle said. “It’s all because I started playing golf two years ago and really started to enjoy the game. So much so that when it was too hot, too windy, too cold, I was playing in the garage.”

Even though Stevens doesn’t play golf, he sees the same potential that this business is exactly what McPherson needs.

“It’s been a great journey and I’ve met a lot of great people along the way,” LaSalle said. “I would never have considered myself a business owner, not even in the middle of last year. If Robert hadn’t said ‘let’s go,’ I would never have done it alone.”

“Working with McPherson has been great and we’ve had a lot of support,” Stevens said.

Marlene Gray and McPherson Main Street presented Bob’s Golf Club with ceremonial bricks, representing their first step on the road to success.

Mayor Tom Brown congratulated Stevens and LaSalle on behalf of the city.

“We’re delighted that Treg and Jason spoke with you for this article,” said Mayor Brown. “There are times when you can’t play, so I hope their rain is your blessing.”

During the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Mayor Brown shared that when he was in San Antonio about 10 years ago, he played golf with professional golfer Byron Nelson. He said it might be his most emotional golf story.

Bob’s Golf Club has simulators where you can use real clubs and golf balls. If you don’t have a club, you can rent one for your team. Like the bowling alley, this activity is played by the hour.

“For $45 an hour, up to four people can play at a time,” LaSalle said.

There are deals like hot dogs and snacks, as well as beverages, including alcoholic beverages. LaSalle says they want to preserve your experience on a real golf course.

There are over 350 courses to play using software called GSPro, which takes you all over the world.

Colleges such as Central Christian College and Hesston College have already begun internships at the institution, and La-Salle said they are working on punch cards.

Memberships are unlikely, but they hope to eventually start leagues and tournaments, according to LaSalle. LaSalle is working with Treg Fawl of Turkey Creek Golf Course to make this happen.

On Feb. 28, Bob’s Golf Club is offering its first BC Lunch Special, a half-hour simulator, hot dog, fries and soda or water for $20 plus tax. This special is only available from 11am to 2pm on a first come first served basis.
