Big 12 Basketball Tournament Announces Enhanced Entertainment and Fan Experience

The Big 12 today announced various entertainment and fan experience improvements for the upcoming Phillips 66 Big 12 men’s and women’s basketball tournaments. The improvements are the latest in a string of entertainment partnerships and collaborations executed by the Big 12 as it continues to market itself at the intersection of sports and culture.

Big 12 Conference and a bathing ape (BAPE) will expand their partnership during this year’s basketball tournament. In this collaboration, the Assembly and BAPE will create a limited edition Big 12 x BAPE t-shirt featuring each school’s logo surrounding the BAPE crest. The legendary BAPE camouflage logo will also appear on video boards and signage at the Civic Auditorium and T-Mobile Center. Previously, the Big 12 and BAPE collaborated during the 2022 Football Championship to create a BAPE-themed camouflage Big 12 logo, which was placed on each 25-yard line, as well as on the end zone towers and official uniforms.

Both the men’s and women’s basketball tournament games will feature the national anthem performed by renowned artists, Grammy nominated artist Jordin Sparks Shows and rising stars at men’s championship Lanny Gardner Performed at the Women’s Championship.

The meeting will be with KC current, Kansas City’s NWSL team, won the women’s basketball championship. Through this partnership, the KC Current Blue Crew (the club’s official supporter group) will participate in every women’s tournament. Additionally, the Women’s Basketball Tournament Semifinals on Saturday, March 11 will feature KC Current “Taking Over.”

The club will be the first in league basketball championship history. The women’s basketball tournament will feature a championship club and the same amenities and services beginning in 2024, when the tournament officially moves from the Civic Auditorium to the T-Mobile Center.

The Big 12 Conference will support local businesses in Kansas City by partnering with a group of Kansas City-based organizations, including KC current, Charlie Hustle, Power & Light District and more.The conference also invited local Kansas City artists to perform the national anthem at the tournament, which included Rebecca Taylor, Kansas S, KC A Capella, UMKC Chorus and deanna richard.

The Big 12 and Levy Restaurants will launch #Big12Eats At this year’s T-Mobile Center, foodie-centric menus will cater to fans of every team.The menu will feature 10 school-specific foods, including baylor floats (vanilla ice cream and Dr Pepper), Whirlwind Tenderloin (Caesar bag, breaded tenderloin, onion slices, sweet and spicy pickles), Pinehawk Macaroni and Cheese (pasta and creamy white cheese sauce topped with homemade smoked pork, Levy’s signature BBQ sauce and crispy fried onions), K-State’s Wabash Cannondog (giant hot dogs wrapped in bacon with Wildcat Purple seasoning), Norman Oklahoma’s Taco Storm (fried bread with ground beef, shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes, beans, onions and peppers), Pistol Pete’s OSU Fried Corn (Elote-style bacon fried corn topped with crushed Doritos), Tots loaded by TCU (french fries, spicy queso sauce, shredded smoked brisket, pico de gallo, topped with horned frog purple sour cream), Longhorn Quesadillas (Triple Cheese Tacos, Steak, or Chicken with Charred Orange Salsa Rojo), Tech’s Kamen Rider Burger (all beef patties, cheddar, fried onion rings, sweet pickled jalapeños, and Red Raider BBQ sauce), and West Virginia Mountaineer Roll (pepperoni and mozzarella cut into soft rolls).
