[Barcelona, Spain, 1st March, 2023] At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona in 2023, du from the Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (EITC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 5.5G strategic cooperation with Huawei, marking a new stage in the long-term partnership between the two parties.
As one of the fastest-growing telecom operators in the UAE, du works closely with Huawei, has outstanding performance in 5G network experience and business development, and occupies a large market share in the Middle East. Through this cooperation, du and Huawei will strengthen cooperation in 5.5G innovation, including technological innovation and end-to-end network evolution, to help du continuously improve user experience and lead the development of 5.5G in the UAE market.
UAE signs MoU with Huawei
Du UAE CTO Saleem AlBlooshi, Huawei Wireless Network Product Line President Cao Ming, and Huawei UAE CEO Liu Jiawei attended the signing ceremony.
According to the MOU, du and Huawei will cooperate on 5.5G in three areas. In terms of innovation, the two parties will focus on key technologies such as ELAA-MM (Extremely Large Antenna Array Massive MIMO), passive Internet of Things, and virtual large carriers, and discuss the roadmap for end-to-end network evolution. In terms of application exploration, they will conduct research on new scenarios and explore potential applications based on local needs, such as metaverse, holographic conference, and XR. In terms of ecological construction, they will join hands with local and global industry partners to jointly build a complete 5.5G ecosystem and promote multi-party business success.
