Islamabad [Pakistan]March 6 (ANI): The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has again revoked the license of ARY News to broadcast a clip of a speech by Pakistan Justice Movement for Justice (PTI) Chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan, which was reported by Dawn early on. According to PEMRA, uttering “baseless accusations, hate, slander and baseless remarks” against state institutions and officials is a total violation of Article 19 of the Pakistani Constitution and the Supreme Court of Pakistan’s judgment in the Somoto case.

PEMRA issued the order to suspend the license of ARY News, saying: “Apparently, Senior Executive Vice President Ammad Yousaf shared Pemra’s order on his Twitter account at 8.26pm.”

“In view of the foregoing, the Competent Authority, the Chairman of Pemra, in the exercise of the powers conferred by section 30(3) of the Pemra Regulations 2002 as amended by the Pemra (Amendment) Act 2007, hereby suspends the granting of M/s ARY Communications Ltd. ( ARY News) with immediate effect until further orders are placed,” it added.

Earlier, PEMRA issued a statement saying: “It has been observed that Imran Khan [Chairman PTI] Constantly accusing state institutions in his speeches/statements, making unfounded allegations and spreading hate speech through his provocative remarks against state institutions and officials, which is detrimental to the maintenance of law and order and may disturb public peace and peaceful. “

The authority further stated that after analyzing the content of Imran’s speech, it was observed that the content was broadcast live by the licensee without an effective delay mechanism, which violated the provisions of the Pemra law and was not subject to the judgment of the court.

“The Competent Authority, the Chairman of PEMRA, in the light of the foregoing background and reasons, in exercising the Authority’s authority conferred by Regulation 27(a) of the PEMRA Regulations 2002 as amended by the PEMRA (Amendment) Act 2007, reports ARY News that the Authority Added that the live broadcast of Imran Khan’s speech on all satellite TV channels is hereby prohibited.
