ABU DHABI, 7th March, 2023 (WAM) — The Abu Dhabi Environment Agency, EAD and the Abu Dhabi School of Government, ADSG, as part of the Department of Government Support, DGS, have launched a joint and special initiative, To support the capacity development of Abu Dhabi government employees on green policies.
The program will provide the skills and knowledge to help achieve sustainable development and support the UAE’s climate neutrality goals, while helping to develop a workforce familiar with green concepts that can contribute to sustainable change.
The initiative will see the participation of various key sectors in Abu Dhabi and involve five interactive training and awareness programs starting in 2023. These programs include: Sustainable Public Policy Programme, Environmental Sustainability Masters Scholarship Programme, Environmental Awareness Abu Dhabi Government Employees Programme, Abu Dhabi Environmental Leadership Program Government Accelerator and Environmental Insights for Leaders power plan”.
Dr Shaikha Salem Al Dhaheri, Secretary General of EAD, said: “We are proud to partner with the Abu Dhabi Academy of Government on this ambitious program to support the development of the necessary capacities and skills to lead environmentally friendly development in all sectors of health. , Energy, economic and community development and other important sectors. The Sustainable Public Policy Program is one of the training programs for Abu Dhabi government leadership and executive level employees. It will increase participants’ expertise in public policy that considers environmental and climate considerations to guide green development in all vital sectors. The program is held in conjunction with the Harvard Kennedy School.
The “Environmental Sustainability Masters Scholarship Programme” will be implemented in partnership with the Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi to provide scholarships to several Abu Dhabi government employees to enroll in higher academic studies in the field of environmental sustainability, enabling them to obtain a master’s degree in the environment Sustainability legal and policy aspects.
The “Abu Dhabi Government Employees Environmental Awareness Programme” will increase the environmental awareness of Abu Dhabi government employees. It includes awareness activities to increase young people’s knowledge and self-learning abilities. It also contains educational games, audio clips, podcasts and 2D infographic clips to help reinforce knowledge.
The Abu Dhabi Environmental Leadership Program Government Accelerator is open to executive-level employees of the Government of Abu Dhabi. Innovative solutions will be provided to environmental challenges in various sectors and areas of expertise in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Additionally, a 100-day implementation plan was prepared to hone their expertise in the implementation phase and speed up the decision-making process.
The Leaders Environmental Insights Program covers impact aspects and is aimed at leadership and executive-level employees of the Government of Abu Dhabi. The program includes short films on the most prominent local and global environmental trends, visions and developments.
The five items also follow cognitive assessments to measure the level of learning achieved to ensure effectiveness and continuous improvement.
