last survivor Joel actor Pedro Pascal recalls filming his character’s brutal death scene on HBO’s top-rated show game of Thrones.
Pascal revealed that filming his character Oberyn Martell’s death scene on the hit series was so “relaxing” that he actually fell asleep during filming.
The 47-year-old actor, most recently appeared on First we feast on hotan interview series about celebrities eating spicy chicken wings, mirrored in graphic sequences.
In a scene that aired in 2014, Sir Gregor of Clegane Hill, played by Hafþór JúlÃus Björnsson, smashes Martell’s skull, sending blood spattering the stone floor.
“They put all these chunks of meat on my face, pumped the blood so it pooled, you know, and spread it out in the amphitheater to get this nice wide shot of the two of us from above,” Pascal told host Shaw Ann Evans. “And I’m asleep.”
Pascal also noted that the day they filmed his death was “too hot,” but the blood pumped through pipes along Bjornsson’s body was relatively cool.
Bjornsson himself was “the most gentle man ever,” Pascal added, not even feeling the weight of the man on top of him when he stepped over to kill him.
“It was very cathartic and I fell into the deepest sleep I’ve ever experienced,” the actor said.
