UAE welcomes resumption of relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran

Abu Dhabi: The UAE on Friday welcomed the restoration of diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran.

Dr. Anwar Gargash, diplomatic adviser to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, praised China’s role and highlighted active communication and dialogue among countries in the region to promote good-neighborly friendship and promote The importance of stability.

“The UAE warmly welcomes the agreement between Saudi Arabia and Iran to restore diplomatic relations. We appreciate China’s role in promoting a positive step towards peace and stability in the region. Good neighborliness and building a more stable future for all are critical,” Dr Anwar Gargash tweeted.

The Gulf Cooperation Council also welcomed the move by Saudi Arabia and Iran, saying it hoped the agreement would help strengthen security and peace.

The agreement, which includes reopening embassies and exchanging ambassadors over the next two months, was reached following talks in Beijing from March 6 to 10.

Chinese President Xi Jinping took the initiative to host and sponsor talks between representatives of Iran and Saudi Arabia to resolve disputes through dialogue and diplomacy.
