A police patrol that recently patrolled the streets of Abu Dhabi performed a task that many drivers did not expect.
When police pull over a motorist, it’s usually for a traffic violation or an emergency — but in this case, the emirate’s patrols did the opposite: They pulled over drivers and rewarded them.
As part of this year’s Gulf Traffic Week, Abu Dhabi Police’s Traffic and Patrol Department launched a campaign titled ‘Your Life Is Safe’.
Under the initiative, which will run until March 12, happiness patrols hit the roads and observe the behavior of drivers. Those who stick to the rules will be stopped and given a gift bag.

However, this is not the first time the transportation department has implemented such a move. Dubai Police have also carried out similar campaigns in previous years.
“This honor is given to all drivers who follow traffic laws for their own safety, the safety of their passengers and the safety of other road users,” said Lt Mahmoud Youssef Al-Balushi.
By rewarding good drivers, police also hope they will set an example for other motorists.
