Shakira’s Depeche Mode impression on her hit “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53′ reminded her of the band.
during an interview The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, The Argentinian producer and DJ Bizarrap explained that when he entered the studio with Shakira, he initially pitched two possible beats for their collaboration.
The Colombian singer went on to explain how she was immediately drawn to one of the instruments. “It reminds me of Depeche Mode,” she said.
“If you listen [‘Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53’], it has a bit of that cool, dark undertone. I like Depeche Mode. They’re my favorite,” she continued.
“I usually have this physical, visceral response to music. If you see me two-stepping, something’s wrong” hips don’t lie The singer added further.
“I know when a song is working because I suddenly start moving. It usually causes my hips to move.
She expressed her gratitude when talking about the huge success of her song.
“I was waiting for someone to come and pinch me and wake me up from my sleep. It was unbelievable,” she said.
She continued, “People really relate to music when it’s real, real, and from a real place. This song has become an anthem for many women. After I separated and wrote it, I’ve had a really tough year and songs are very important to me. It’s a way of letting go.”
