CARTERSVILLE (United States), March 13 (AP) — Two men were arrested at a Georgia grocery store with an estimated $26,000 worth of baby formula in their car, police said.
Police in Cartersville captured the men carrying backpacks filled with formula cans at a Publix store north of Atlanta, news outlets reported. Police Lieutenant Greg Sparacio said officers who searched their car found more than 662 cans of formula inside.

“We now believe they hit several locations in just a few days, Publix, Kroger, Walmart, et cetera,” Spalacio said.
The men were jailed in Bartow County on charges of shoplifting, felony receipt of theft and facilitating the delinquency of a minor. They were also accompanied by a 16-year-old girl when they were arrested on Thursday. It was not immediately clear whether the individuals had attorneys representing them.
In February 2021, a large infant formula factory closed and recalled many of its products due to contamination concerns, leading to a nationwide shortage of formula. More than a year later, supply has largely rebounded. (Associated Press)
