Families look forward to the FBI’s report on Saudi’s role in 9/11 | Al Qaeda News

The families of the victims of the September 11 attacks are suing the Saudi Arabian government in the U.S. Federal Court in New York. They expect the U.S. government to issue an important FBI report immediately.

This 16-page report is the summary and analysis of the FBI’s long-term investigation of the two Saudi nationals, Khalid al-Mihdhar and Nawaf al-Hazmi, among the hijackers on September 11.

In January 2000, the two Al Qaeda members arrived in California, where they were assisted by other Saudis. According to the family’s lawyer on September 11, the FBI’s report may be edited after its public release and is expected to provide detailed information on who helped al-Mihdhar and al-Hazmi in the FBI’s investigation.

“It is not clear that other government departments may know what happened, but it is clear that the high-level and middle-level Saudi officials working for the government are part of this conspiracy,” said lawyer Andrew’Duke’ Maloney. The law firm Kreindler LLP represented the family on September 11 in a lawsuit against Saudi Arabia.

Twenty years after the 2001 attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people in New York City, Washington, DC, and Shanksville, Pennsylvania, the family’s lawsuits accusing the Saudi government of conspiracy are approaching a turning point. Either sufficient evidence is submitted to the court to support the lawsuit, or it will not proceed.

The pending FBI report was analyzed by agents. They investigated how al-Mihdhar and al-Hazmi, who barely spoke English when they arrived in the United States and had no independent resources, gained a foothold in Los Angeles and San Diego.

Maloney told Al Jazeera that on September 11, the family’s lawyers believed that they could prove that there was a “conspiracy” Saudi government official who “conspired with Al-Qaeda agents.” The goal of the lawsuit is to win an economic settlement for the families of the victims of the attack.

According to the executive order of President Joe Biden, the facts of the case were mainly submitted privately, behind closed doors, and secretly, and will be made public soon.

After Biden was informed by his family on September 11 that he would not be welcomed at the anniversary event normally attended by the president. Biden leads the Justice Department And other agencies to review and release FBI documents and evidence that are still confidential.

Biden’s order specifically directed the publication of the 16-page report before the anniversary of September 11, 2021.

Maloney said the report may reveal the FBI’s knowledge of several men related to the hijackers, including Saudi nationals, Muslim leader Fahd Tumaili and suspected Saudi spy Omar Bayu Meter.

According to the family’s lawyer, it is believed that the name of the Saudi Embassy official, Mussaed Ahmed al-Jarrah, appeared as part of the legal proceedings and is believed to provide future hijackers with help.

The Saudi Embassy stated that the country welcomes the release of the investigation documents by the FBI, and “there is no evidence that the Saudi government or its officials were aware of terrorist attacks before or participated in its planning or execution in any way.”

The Saudi Embassy in Washington said in a statement on September 8: “Any accusation of Saudi Arabia’s involvement in the September 11 attacks is absolutely false.”

Among the 19 al-Qaeda hijackers, 15 were Saudis. From the beginning of the United States’ multiple investigations to the September 11 attacks, questions surrounding the role of Saudi Arabia have always existed.

Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden is the wealthy son of the founder of the Saudi Bin Laden Group, a Saudi construction company. In 1991, bin Laden broke with the Saudi royal family because of the deployment of US troops to Saudi Arabia.

But according to U.S. government documents, bin Laden’s organization received financial support from wealthy Saudis, including charities related to royal family members.

American independence Commission on September 11 In its 2004 report, it concluded that the Saudi government was unaware of the upcoming attack. The committee “not found” evidence of any role played by Saudi officials.

But Maloney told Al Jazeera that the report was incomplete and that the commission investigators lacked information provided by the FBI many years later.

A 2002 US Congressional investigation led by former Senator Bob Graham found information pointing to Saudi Arabia related to the September 11 attacks.Graham told Al Jazeera U.S. in 2015 The public will be “angry” If they knew the truth about the Saudi role.

The report includes 28 pages Materials about Saudi Arabia that were kept secret by the Bush administration and declassified and released in 2016. These 28 pages are inconclusive, but show that some hijackers have contacted individuals connected with the Saudi government and received their support.
