There were no immediate reports of casualties in the attack, which tested the fragile ceasefire agreement that ended the fierce and deadly fighting in May.
An Israeli military spokesperson said in a social media post earlier on Saturday that Israeli fighter jets attacked Gaza’s Hamar Base in response to a rocket fired at Israel on Friday night.
There is no immediate report of casualties caused by the attack.
The Israeli military said that late Friday, a siren sounded near the border between Israel and the Gaza Strip to warn of upcoming rockets.
The alarm sounded a few hours after the police arrested two members of the Islamic Jihad in Gaza who had fled the highest-security Israeli prison earlier this week.
Earlier Saturday, the Jerusalem Post reported that two more fugitives had been arrested. They were identified as Zakaria Zubeidi and Mahmoud al-Arida.
The recent increase in cross-border violence has tested the fragile truce that ended the fierce fighting in May.
More than 250 Palestinians, many of them civilians and children, and 13 Israelis were killed in the May attack on Gaza, during which Israel carried out relentless air strikes on coastal enclaves, prompting Gaza fighters to launch into Israeli cities Rocket.
Israel imposed a blockade of Gaza, strictly restricting them from leaving the territory of 2 million Palestinians.
Egypt also imposes restrictions on enclaves. Both cited Hamas’ threats to restrictions.
The blockade restricted the movement of goods and people into and out of Gaza, disrupted the territory’s economy, and harmed 2 million people.
