Haitian prosecutor seeks to interview PM about the murder of Jovenel Moise | Political News

Prime Minister Ariel Henry asked for an explanation as to why he was talking to a main suspect a few hours after the president was assassinated in July.

The chief prosecutor of Haiti invited Prime Minister Ariel Henry to meet with him next week on Friday to explain why he had a conversation with one of the main suspects in the assassination of former President Giovinel Moise on the night of the crime.

A letter from the prosecutor Bed-Ford Claude to Henry stated that only the president can authorize the formal summons of people of his rank, but this country does not. Instead, he was “invited” to participate and cooperate.

It said that the hearing of the court of first instance in Port-au-Prince will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday.

The letter said: “If you want, the person in charge of criminal prosecution will be very grateful… If you want, you can cooperate with the Haitian judicial department, taking into account the restrictions on your status as a senior official of the country.”

Henry did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

On July 7, the Assassins attacked Moise’s private residence on the hill above Port-au-Prince, plunged the poor Caribbean country into deeper turmoil, and Moise was shot.

Investigators say that Joseph Felix Badio, a former official of the Haitian Ministry of Justice, may have ordered the assassination.

According to the letter sent on Friday, the subpoena record from the mobile phone operator Digicel now also allows them to confirm the accusation that Badio and Henry spoke twice at around 4 am on July 7, just a few after Moyes was killed. Hour.

The letter said that the geolocation data also showed that Badio spoke at the crime scene.
