Biden salutes 9/11 anniversary and calls for unity-News

[ad_1]

President Joe Biden called on the nation to restore the spirit of cooperation that emerged a few days after the 9/11 terrorist attacks in memory of those who died 20 years ago.

When hijackers commanded four planes and launched the nation’s worst terrorist attack in 2001, Biden was a senator. Now, for the first time, he commemorates the 9/11 anniversary as commander-in-chief.

The president planned to pay his respects at the three locations where the plane crashed, but he left the speech to others.

Instead, the White House released a taped speech on Friday night. In his speech, Biden talked about the “true national unity” that emerged after the attack, which was reflected in “ubiquitous heroism-unexpectedly.” Neutralize unexpected places”.

“For me, this is the core lesson of September 11,” he said. “Unity is our greatest strength.”

Biden arrived in New York on Friday night, and the skyline was illuminated by “Tribute to Light”, unforgettable marking the towers that once towered. His first stop on Saturday was the National September 11 Memorial, where the twin towers of the World Trade Center were torn down because of a terrifying world on TV.

From there, he will visit the fields near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, where a plane descends from the sky after heroic passengers fight terrorists to prevent the plane from reaching its destination in Washington. Finally, he went to the Pentagon, where the world’s most powerful army suffered an unimaginable blow.

Biden’s mission, like his predecessor, is to commemorate this moment with sadness and determination. Biden is a man who has suffered a huge personal tragedy. He talked about the loss of power.

In the video message, he expressed the pain caused by the memories of 9/11, he said: “No matter how much time has passed, these commemorations will make everything painful reappear, as if you just received the message a few seconds ago. Same.”

Robert Gibbs, a former press secretary to President Obama, said that for Biden, “now is the time when people do not see him as the President of the Democratic Party, but as the President of the United States of America.”

Gibbs said: “The American people are a little bit conflicted about what they have seen in Afghanistan in the past few weeks.” “For Biden, it’s time to try to reset some of them. Remind people of what a commander-in-chief is and what What does it mean to be a national leader at such an important moment.”

On the 20th anniversary of the attack, Biden now shoulders the responsibility of his predecessor to prevent future tragedies, and must do so in response to the 11 attacks launched in September in the United States hastily withdrew.

Biden will become the fourth president to comfort the country on the anniversary of that dark day, a day that has shaped many of the most important domestic and foreign policy decisions made by CEOs over the past two decades.

The terrorist attack determined George W. Bush’s presidency. When the plane crashed into the World Trade Center, he was reading a book to school children in Florida. On that day, for security reasons, he was excluded from Washington-the current president wrote that Senator Biden urged him to reconsider this decision-and then delivered a brief, horrified country from the White House that night. Pausing speech.

The next year, Bush chose Ellis Island as the location for his first anniversary speech, with the Statue of Liberty on his shoulders, and he swore: “Our enemy has begun, and we will finish.”

When US President Barack Obama visited the Pentagon in 2009 to celebrate his first assumption of office on September 11, the war in Iraq and Afghanistan was still deadly.

Obama said: “No words can ease your heartache.”

“We recalled the beauty and meaning of their lives,” he said. “There is no passing of time, no dark sky to dilute the meaning of that moment.”

Although the country is still entangled overseas and vigilant against terrorist threats, the anniversary is more of a cure.

President Donald Trump promised to withdraw the United States from Afghanistan, but his words at the first anniversary ceremony held on September 11, 2017 were a vivid warning to terrorists. He told “These barbaric killers, we cannot reach There is no shelter in the dark corner of the world. Our hands have nowhere to hide on this huge earth.”

On Saturday, when Biden goes to all three locations, Bush will pay his respects in Shanksville, and Obama will do the same in New York. Trump plans to stop at least one stop in Manhattan and make circus comments during a boxing match at a casino in Hollywood, Florida.
