According to WAM, the THRYVE factory will be the “first 100% plant-based meat factory in the region” – located in Dubai Industrial City.
“The THRYVE plant will contribute to a more sustainable and healthier food chain in the Middle East,” said WAM.
WAM continued: “IFFCO’s THRYVE is the only 100% plant-based meat factory in the Middle East and will utilize advanced food technology to produce delicious, healthy, sustainable and culturally relevant food to meet the needs of local consumers.”
“The opening of this innovative new facility also supports our efforts to protect the nation’s ecosystems, enhance food and water security, and diversify our food sources,” WAM quoted Climate Change and Environment Minister Mariam bint Mohammed Almheiri as saying.
According to WAM, the new THRYVE plant will cater to 30% of the GCC population and stimulate the growth of the local market for plant-based products.
Citing a report from ResearchAndMarkets.com, WAM said the global plant-based meat market is estimated to be worth $7.9 billion in 2022 and is expected to reach $15.7 billion by 2027.
