ABU DHABI, 17th March, 2023 (WAM) – The Mubadala Arena in Zayed Sports City came alive again today hosting the 2023 AJP Circuit Abu Dhabi International Jiu-Jitsu Championships.
Open to clubs and academies from around the world, these tournaments will feature intense mat fighting in the Kids, Youth, Amateur, Professional and Masters divisions.
The three-day tournament is jointly organized by the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation (UAEJJF) and the Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu Professional Jiu-Jitsu Association (AJP) and is the second set of AJP events for the 2023 competition season.
The first, the AJP No-Gi Abu Dhabi International Jiu-Jitsu Championships held last month, was a huge success in terms of organisation, professional participation and crowd turnout.
The opening ceremony was attended by Abdel Moneim Al Hashemi, Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, Chairman of the Asian Jiu-Jitsu Federation and Senior Vice-President of the International Jiu-Jitsu Federation, Mohamed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice-President of UAEJJF, as well as some UAEJJF officials and representatives of clubs and academies.
The UAEJJF stated that the AJP Championships are an important part of the tournament calendar for the current sporting season, helping to highlight a wealth of new talent aiming to build successful careers. “
The competition will take place on Friday, March 17th, the first day of the competition, with boys and girls divided into Infant (Grey, Yellow, Orange) and Junior (Grey, Yellow, Orange, Green) groups, and the competition will take place in the afternoon 4:00 start.
Saturday, games will begin at 11:00 a.m. Junior and Junior (blue, purple), Men’s Masters 1 (blue, purple, brown, black) and Masters 2 (blue, purple, brown, black )division.
Men’s and women’s players will compete in the amateur (blue) and professional (purple, brown and black) divisions starting at 11 a.m. on Sunday.
