“Good Burgers 2” has been officially greenlit on Paramount+, with original cast members Mark Kaynan Thompson and Kyle Mitchell returning.
The news was revealed on Friday’s episode of “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.” The sequel to the beloved Nickelodeon film will begin production in May and is scheduled to premiere on Paramount+ later in 2023.

“I can’t believe it’s been a little over 25 years since Good Burger introduced great customer service!” Thompson said in a statement. “I’m so proud to be a part of something that so many generations have loved and it’s surreal to be back where it all started for a sequel! Loved acting with my brother Kel and can’t wait to show the fans these characters since What have we been doing since the last time we saw them.”
“Good Burger” originated as a sketch on the Nickelodeon series “All That,” in which Mitchell played Ed. It was then spun off into the 1997 film. It proved to be a box office success, grossing just under $24 million against a reported budget of $8 million. It went on to gain cult status, and Mitchell and Thompson reunited on “The Tonight Show” in 2015 for the “Good Burgers” sketch, and later said they’d been open to new versions of the film over the years. Mitchell also played Ed in the 2019 “All That” revival series.
According to the movie’s official log, “Dextered (Thompson) is out of luck after another of his inventions fails. Ed (Mitchell) welcomes Dexter back to Good Burger with open arms and lets He’s back at his old job. With new hires at Good Burger, Dex has a plan to get back on his feet, but unfortunately, Good Burger’s fate is once again in jeopardy.”
Mitchell said: “Ed is one of those timeless characters that brought so much joy and laughter to fans, and still does so after all these years, it’s such a beautiful blessing. To be back and continue the story of Dex, Ed and Good It’s fantastic that Burger’s story has benefited both those who grew up watching it and their children.”
Kevin Kopelow and Heath Seifert, who co-wrote the original film and produced All That, will write and executive produce the sequel. James III also wrote the screenplay for the film. Phil Traill will direct. Nickelodeon Studios will produce. Film production at Nickelodeon Studios is overseen by Shauna Phelan and Zack Olin, co-heads of Nickelodeon & Awesomeness Live-Action. Brittany Cope serves as Head of Production for Nickelodeon.

Thompson is represented by UTA and NCredible Entertainment. Mitchell is represented by UTA and Levity Live.

This marks the resurrection of the latest Nickelodeon property on Paramount+.Streamer also has the “iCarly” revival series, which has already renewed for a third seasonand the updated version of “Little Rascal” and so on.
